The problem appears to be when you use an iPad and a Bluetooth keyboard. For some reason the ‘Send’ box just doesn’t appear when you’re in the app. It DOES appear when you’re using Facebook online (www.facebook.com) on the iPad and if you turn off Bluetooth and the keyboard. Unfortunately it means you can’t really use the app with an iPad if you’re using a keyboard… and to me that’s a dealbreaker…

  2. Erin says:

I ‘m not using a keyboard with my ipad, and I don’t see the send button. Very frustrating!

  4. Tara Virgil says:

Yeah—me too. Very annoying—and it seems like it would be an easy fix. I think this happened after we updated to the IOS version.

  5. Ramy says:

Me too I got new iPad 2 but can’t use Facebook to comment

  6. Sorry, but we dont even have the little plus sign at the bottom. Impossible to initiate a comment on your own site….only on others

  7. Oh and I tried turning on and off Bluetooth….makes no difference. There is still no way to comment on your own page…..

  8. Amber says:

Click the return button to comment

Can’t seem to comment on a photo using ipad facebook for a page that I am administering. Any ideas or have’nt they thought of this yet! doh.

  10. gayle says:

I am havin the same problem but I am nt using a wireless keyboard? Is there a fix for this using the ipad 3 I cn see the write comments box bt then it flashes off ?

  11. Tania sharp says:

I have just bought a new ipad3 and just downloaded the Facebook app which called itself an update of April 2012. I use my iPad via wifi only admittedly on a reasonably poor signal. I also can’t comment on people’s posts on newsfeed. I have read your blog and all subsequent comments none of which help. I am not using a wireless keyboard (yet!) and there is no ‘plus sign’ icon on the bottom right of each newsfeed for me to click on. If I click on the word ‘comment’ the comments box pops up to the right of the screen revealing all the comments on that feed and for a fleeting second a comments box appears right at the bottom of all the comments and then promptly disappears and no amount of tapping brings it back. Can anybody help? Thanks.

tania as just summed it up in a nutshell same problem here hopin u guys can help me out I at the end of my wits

    • abbymalikpr says:

Hi Tania and Gayle! Ok, I see what you’re saying the app is doing (or isn’t doing). My FB app isn’t doing that. When I touch comment, the box pops up on the right and it remains there and I’m able to comment. I checked, and we’re all using the same version of the app, the latest version. Let me see if I can figure this out, and I’ll reply tomorrow after I’ve had a chance to look at it. I’m using an iPad2, but I wouldn’t think that would make a difference. But perhaps the app isn’t compatible with the iPad3 for some reason?

PS: Do you love your iPad3?!

      • gayle says:

Hi yes its my first ipad the main reason was to use the facebook app so I feel a little hard dne to at the moment prayn u cn find a fix.it was wrkn fine the facebook app up til a few days ago I cn comment on photos but not text status

        • Milos says:

Same problem here. My wi-fi connection went down when I wanted to comment on status, and since then, it’s not letting me comment on statuses anymore, only photos. Reinstalling the app, and rebooting iPad don’t seem to help.

      • Tania Sharp says:

Re PS Yes! I absolutely love the iPad! But I have a confession, I ‘ve only just entered the tablet world & I thought about getting a more Word compatible one but I love it now! What a relief not having to lug a great laptop out every time you just want to do something quick. (who would have thought we’d ever say that about laptops).

I did install the update … should/could I have installed a full earlier version rather than the update?

Another bit of info that may or may not be pertinent is that one or two newsfeed do let you comment but it opens up a whole new window containing just that comment … but this is hit & miss.

I have this exact problem but it was working for a month and then suddenly stopped

  12. Robert Leach says:

I am having exactly the same problem. Im using an Ipad2 ad the App has been fine for months. All of a sudden , when hitting the Comment button, the dialogue box briefly appears then dissapears. I have reloaded the App and reinstalled it. I just wonder if this is some sort of virus.

  13. Marie Barton says:

Exactly the same thing has been happening to me since yesterday. I too have removed and reloaded the app butkt’s not made any difference. I can see other peoples comments and the comment box very briefly appears but disappears just as quickly. Very frustrating, sounds like it make be a Facebook problem and not an iPad problem as it has been fine for months before yesterday!

  14. Mel B says:

Me too, exactly the same. Hope you can get an answer!

  15. Louise robinson says:

Yes, same problem for me, it’s very very annoying since i have been using the app since Xmas and never had a problem!! Hope it’s sorted soon!!!

    • gayle says:

I also forgot to say the chat thing is missing I presume that everybody whos havn ths problem is the same? Face is fine on my iphone

  16. Same happening to me too, very frustrating :/

  17. Tania Sharp says:

A PS : in light of one of the replies I’m now concerned about viruses and security, is there a recommendation for security. Can anyone recommend a programme/app?

  18. I have the same problem now!

  19. HF says:

Me too, but only on some things I want to comment on. Sometimes the comment section comes up then immediately goes, other times it comes up as normal. I thought it might be trying to comment on posts of people who are not my friend, but it doesn’t seem to be that. It has only started happening since yesterday and I haven’t done anything differently!

  20. Tres says:

Came on here cos searching for answers to same problem, box appears briefly then disappears, guessing theres a problem with the app – only just downloaded it cos just treated myself to an iPad 2, and now a bit miffed cos use fb a lot. Hope they fix it soon.

I’m test driving a 32gig iPad right now and I’m so dissappointed that It’s such a mission to do a Very basic task such as updating my facebook status. I type it in and hit the post button and nothing happens except a blank white page is displayed and i have to log into my facebook again… What’s up with that?

  30. Melanie Boyd says:

I personally prefer logging on to Facebook.com vs using the app. Just like the format better. My problem is writing a comment from this page. It’s sporadic….if I write a comment on someone’s post, then attempt to write another or “like” something I get no response. I’m having to log off, then log back on. I’ve rebooted, checked by FB settings….please help!!
